I have to wait a long time for one to be delivered because otherwise I would pay $130 for a miata battery.
My battery wont keep a charge. It has always taken a while but evetually drained and would not start. I took out the battery and left it charging for like 4 hours and reached 13.6 volts I hook up the multimeter and just watch it dropping like cray within an hour it dropped to 10.8 and just stayed there forever. The thing is an exide classic that is 5 months old.
Is this battery truely nuked or is there a way to save it?

Is it a serviceable battery? Otherwise should be warranted. The store you got it from should just have to call Exide and get an authorization for an exchange.

Batteries should have a warranty on them, If it's so new, it should be exchanged for free

Internal short. Happens.
Sometimes I get the "internal short" thing going on, but then I remember it's about technique.

Thats what sucks it came with the car and the reciept just says it was replaced under warranty. The shop that did it is over and hour and a half away.

I'd probably just fork out the money for a new one. The shop will probably give you a bunch of bull since you weren't the one who owned the car at the time. It'll save you a headache and a 3 hour drive.

If you have the receipt for the battery, any shop that sells that brand battery should be able to replace it under warranty.

you will need a new one, but a coworker told me about putting aspirin in with the acid. I've never done it, but if it works it does. I doubt it would continue to work.
Don't you have another car you can borrow a battery from?

I wish I did it is just a generic reciept that say the battery was replaced doesnt list type or brand or anything.

You got a sulfated plate or a dead cell. the battery is gone. Time to replace it.

Does the battery have the stickers on top punched that show the install or manufacture date. Most have those and any store that sells that brand might (should?) honor it even without a receipt.

the sticker isnt punched out but there is a sticker on it saying it was "shipped 2013" which looks like a factory sticker.

It would be worthwhile to bring it by a store that sells the brand. Most have some type of warranty that goes out a few years. The worst thing they can do is say "no, we can't warranty this".

there is an Cal Ranch store on the exide site but I doubt they sell car batteries. all other dealers are way too far away.

As long as they sell Exide batteries they should be able to talk to you about warranty. And if it is a farm supply store they will probably have a decent selection of batteries.

The internal short reference is something that's taken out several batteries for me. A growth of something inside shorts one side to the other, causing it to be able to charge, and seem normal at first, but it just discharges really fast without any other use.
And sometimes that happens to me, discharging too fast, too. So then I remember my techniques.
